Eva Marcille recently changed her oldest daughter’s last name from McCall to Sterling. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star recently explained why she decided to give her daughter, Marley Rae, her stepfather’s last name.
“I just went through a name change for my firstborn, Marley Rae,” Eva shared on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. “Marley was born in 2014, and I gave her biological father’s [last] name [at birth],” The model explains. “After two months, we became estranged and I raised [Marley] as a single mom.”
“And then, the Good Lord saw fit for me to meet an amazing man, Michael Sterling, who has become my husband and the father of my later children. And so, long story short, we all have the name Sterling. Marley’s the only one with her biological father’s [last] name. I saw it necessary, and Mike saw it necessary, to change her name.”
The process to change Marley Rae’s last name from McCall to Sterling was not easy. “We’ve been going through the process and it is not for the faint of heart,” Eva admitted. However, “Thank you to the Honorable Judge Manning here in Fulton County court [who] granted me a name change for Marley. She is now officially and legally Marley Rae Sterling.”
Eva previously revealed that she regards Michael Sterling as her oldest child’s father. “What’s amazing is that [Kevin McCall] thinks biology is more important than being present,” Marcille said during a recent interview with Wendy Williams. “Marley knows her dad. He picks her up from school. He gives her life lessons. [Michael Sterling is] her dad,” the celebrity mom concluded.
