Chanel Iman and her baby girl, Cali Clay Shepard, cover the latest issue of Harper’s BAZAAR Kazakhstan. Inside the publication, the top model talks about being a young mother , and losing the baby weight just six months after giving birth!
On being a mom:
“From the moment I found out that I was pregnant, I tried to become the best mother I could, concentrating on everything I needed to give birth to a healthy baby! Now that Cali is with me, love for her makes me cultivate. We have fun together because she is a very happy child.”
On if she has experienced any changes since becoming a mom:
“The only real change is the focus on Cali. My schedule is still very tight. Fortunately, Cali behaves like an “iron lady” and loves to travel. And – yes, it is definitely in the center of my attention!”
On her fears of becoming a mom:
“Mothers of the firstborn are worried about different things that experienced mothers do not think about … For example, am I doing everything right? Do you follow the interests of your child? No matter what others say, it’s all the same to get away from your own “quirks”. When Cali was just born, I checked every hour if she was breathing. Then I worried about whether enough milk comes when she eats. What if she’s hot or cold? But in the end, we all adapt to motherhood.”
On what she would say if Cali wanted to follow in her modeling footsteps:
“The same advice that my mother gave me: ‘Whatever you want to do in life, do it.’ If she wants to become a model, she will definitely have an advantage, plus a few stories about what to expect.”
On her Post-Partum body
“I have to admit, I was a little worried about my body, but in less than six months, I returned to my usual form. Soul cycling (exercises on a stationary bike, combining cardio load with full mental relaxation) and extra hours in the gym helped me with this. And of course, it is very important to adhere to the regime.”
On March 3, 2018, Iman married New York Giants Wide Receiver Sterling Shepard at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The couple welcomed their daughter a few months later On August 10, 2018.
