Tanisha Foster, a.k.a. Tanisha Asghedom, came to court on Tuesday (May 14) to battle out against Samantha Smith over custody of Nipsey Hussle’s 10-year-old daughter, Emani Asghedom. The mother allegedly came seeking full custody along with financial support.

“I love my daughter and I’ll do whatever it takes to get her,” Tanisha told The Blast outside of the Los Angeles courtroom. Foster was accompanied by her lawyer who told the press that his client was “willing to do what’s in the best interest of her child.”
Tanisha has joint custody of Emani, which is something that she reportedly brought to light during court proceedings. Emani, however, was living with Nipsey Hussle at the time of the rapper’s untimely death. Nipsey had a net worth of around $8 million at the time of his death and left behind about $2 million in assets. Tanisha allegedly petitioned the courts for some of those funds to go to her for the rearing of Emani.
It was previously believed that Nipsey Hussle had full custody of his daughter. It was also thought that Emani went back to live with her mother after the untimely passing of her father. Samantha Smith’s request for temporary custody of her 10-year-old niece further fueled rumors of Emani living with her mother. The judge, however, reportedly cleared the courtroom on Tuesday (May 14) so that Emani could spend time with her mother. It is not clear, then, as to where Emani presently resides but it is for certain that the 10-year-old is with family.
Nipsey Hussle passed away on March 31, 2019. His public memorial was held last month at the Staples Center. Tanisha Foster posted a touching note online shortly after fans began to question her apparent absence from the memorial service. “I love you, Ermy,” Tanisha wrote online. “You know when I’m mad at you it’s ‘Ermias Joseph.’ I love you so much.”

Tanisha Foster’s family reportedly attempted to speak with the Asghedoms regarding Nipsey Hussle’s estate and finances after Tuesday’s child custody hearing.
