Written by Peter Saji and Kenya Barris, this new spin-off will chronicle the story of Rainbow Johnson, (Tracee Ellis Ross), as she grows up in the 80’s in a mixed-race family. The show will recount the constant dilemmas they had to face in trying to assimilate.

The series will star Arica Himmel, as young Bow Johnson, Tika Sumpter as Alice Johnson, Christina Anthony as Denise, Mykal-Michelle Harris as Santamonica Johnson and Ethan Childress as Johan Johnson.

We know that the first spin-off, Grown-ish, has been an overwhelming success for Freeform so, we are looking forward to seeing great things from this new project. Saji and Barris are signed on to produce Mixed-ish along with Ross, Randall Winston, Artists First (Brian Dobbins), Cinema Gypsy (Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland) and Anthony Anderson.
