“When I was approached with this opportunity – to help be the voice for women experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety – I thought, ‘this is perfect,'” Teigen shares in a statement. “I’m grateful to be able to use the platform that I’ve been given to reduce the stigma that many women feel when talking about these very real and treatable conditions,” she adds.
Chrissy Teigen goes on to tell the press that she wished initiatives such as #MyWishForMoms were in the public sphere when she was going through her stage of postpartum depression. “I wish I had known that postpartum depression can happen to anyone because I didn’t think it could happen to me,” Chrissy shares. “Here I was, with my perfect little Luna and a supportive husband, yet I was truly struggling,” she explains.

More than 500,000 new moms suffered from postpartum depression last year. Less than a quarter of those women received treatment. Chrissy Teigen hopes to change the trajectory with her new initiative.
“My wish for moms is that they know they aren’t alone, and they are supported by the more than 500,000 women who share their experience each year,” the celebrity mom shares. “Imagine if we can get as many people talking about postpartum depression and anxiety as those experiencing it, and let them know help is available.”
I love that @chrissyteigen is raising awareness for postpartum depression and anxiety. I wish i would have known insurance doesn’t cover postpartum mental healthcare and finding help is incredibly difficult. #mywishformoms
