Congratulations to Hoda Kotb who has adopted her second child. The TODAY show co-anchor shared the news with her co-workers and fans on Tuesday (April 16).
“It’s a girl,” Hoda exclaimed during an on-air telephone conversation that TODAY viewers could hear. The show’s co-hosts told fans that they had an “exclusive” story before calling Hoda at home. Kotb and TODAY also revealed that the newest addition to the family’s name is Hope Catherine Kotb.
“I can’t believe it,” Hoda said. “I mean look, in your life, you think maybe you’ve gotten what you deserve. But man, I’m so happy she’s here.”
Hoda Kotb adopted her oldest daughter, Haley Joy Kotb, in February 2017. The celebrity mom shared the joys of parenting in honor of World Adoption Day 2018.
“I think sometimes you think either I can’t … or, I waited too long, or circumstances didn’t intend for me, and I should be grateful to have this life, and why would I ask for something more? It felt almost selfish,” Kotb explained. “I feel like if you’re meant to have a child in your life, your child is out there,” the talk show host concluded.
It was just a few weeks ago that Hoda Kotb released her new children’s book, You Are My Happy. The celebrity mom told TODAY viewers that the story was inspired by her bedtime routine with Haley Joy.
“Every night before I put her down, I always say to her, ‘You know what my favorite time of the day is?’ And I would just say, ‘Right now,'” Kotb shared. “About a week ago, I’m changing her and I’m putting her down for bed and I say, ‘Haley do you know what my favorite time of the day is?’ And she looked at me and she goes, ‘Right now.’ And I thought that night time is so intimate and so special. The book is really just about saying thank you for the little, tiny things.”
