“500k followers and all I get is a Sharpie on an 8×10 piece of paper,” a caption read beneath a picture of Dwyane holding his daughter and a poster that acknowledged Kaavia’s social media milestone. “Obvious production value issues,” the caption continued. “I will be taking up with management,” Kaavia concluded in her post.
It seems that Kaavia James, a.k.a. Shady Baby, didn’t get to influence how her big milestone would be commemorated. It’s okay, Kaavia! We’re sure your parents will let you have an all-out party when your social media followers swell to one million and counting.
Of course, all of the witty captions on Instagram come from Kaavia’s mom, Gabrielle Union. The actress posts pictures of her daughter often to humor Kaavia’s subscribers. Gabrielle expressed nothing but appreciation for the journey that led her to motherhood during a 2018 video released shortly after her daughter’s birth.
“Every family is unique,” Gabrielle said in the clip. “How each family is created and comes together is special,” the star mom continued. “Kaavia James Union Wade’s journey into our arms was long and at times brutal.”
Union reflected on the numerous miscarriages that she and Dwyane Wade endured before using a surrogate to carry their daughter. “There were heartbreaks that nearly broke us and streams of tears that turned into raging rivers,” the actress admitted. Still, “We’re so grateful, so thankful for the gift they’ve given us.”
