Dwyane Wade received quite the surprise from his wife and kids at his Marquette’s jersey retirement ceremony this past weekend. The NBA player was shocked to see his sons, Zion and Zaire, and nephew Dahveon Morris in attendance at the event.
Dwyane thought that his boys were in Miami due to their personal commitments. Both Zion and Zaire play basketball at their schools and appear to be on their way to following in their dad’s footsteps. Dwyane was absolutely shocked to see the teens make their way to the court on his big day.
“I’m not surprised much,” Dwyane Wade said after being surprised by his sons and wife, Gabrielle Union. “But y’all got me today,” he concluded. Zion and Zaire presented their father with a letterman jacket during the ceremony. Priceless!
Wade commented on his time as a Marquette during the event. The NBA star told the crowd that he was proud of his stint with the college team. “I think my younger self would be proud of me,” Dwyane said of his accomplishments in sports.
Officials from the basketball star’s former college certainly expressed delight in having someone of Dwyane Wade’s caliber come from their establishment. “Thank you so much for being back here and allowing us to honor you, the great career that you’ve had, the impact that you’ve had on Marquette and the impact that really you had on the game of basketball and every community you’ve touched,” the Marquette’s team coach, Steve Wojciechowski, said. “We love you. We’re so proud of you,” he concluded.
Dwyane Wade led the Marquette’s to victory at the turn of the century before accepting a spot in the NBA. The celebrated athlete has gone on to win several NBA championships since then. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
