‘SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER VERSE’ NABS OSCAR NOMINATION

The Movie Is Up For An Award For Best Animated Feature

The Academy surprised a few movie lovers with its Oscar nominations. Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse was certainly a pleasant shocker. The film, which some believed would not go over well, nabbed an Academy Award nomination to the delight of the directors and actors who made Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse possible.

The latest film in the Spider-Man franchise is up for the Best Animated Feature award. Much of the credit for the success of the movie goes to Bob Persichetti who directed the motion picture.

“Day one was three years ago, this week,” Persichetti says of the process of creating Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse, which began in December 2015. “It took about a year and a half to get to where we ended up. When we released that first teaser last December, the shots of Miles without his mask on were like a day old. If you look at them now, you can see the difference.”

Shameik Moore also talks about the film and his smash-hit role as the lead character, Miles Morales. “Everybody likes superheroes,” Moore shares.

“When I saw Miles I felt like I was looking at myself,” Shameik explains. “I literally felt like they took my face and put it in and animated it. So I was like, ‘Yo, I am Miles Morales! I’m Spider-Man.'”

Shameik Moore was quite amazed to get a call from the directors of Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse. They wanted to know if Shameik was interested in a part in the film.

“The directors from this movie and the writers from this movie saw the movie Dope and said, ‘Hey, we want Shameik to be in this movie. We want Shameik to play Miles Morales,'” Shameik said. “I wrote it in my journal while making that movie, which they saw, to hire me! It’s like… you know what I’m saying? It’s like wow! The circle of life.”

Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse comes to theaters on December 14, 2018. Catch the film’s trailer below!
