Gabrielle Union-Wade has shared a very emotional video of her daughter Kaavia’s birth. On Monday, the Being Mary Jane star shared the video with her Instagram followers with the caption, “Every family is unique. How each family is created and comes together is special. Kaavia James Union Wade’s journey into our arms was long and at times brutal. There were heartbreaks that nearly broke us and streams of tears that turned into raging rivers.”
She added, “And then came Kaavia James. This is our birth journey. Thank you all for the love, support and understanding and all the people who held us up when we lost hope. Watch it with love. Watch it with hope.”
In the above clip, Union reveals that she has adenomyosis, which prevented her from “holding the baby” whenever she would become pregnant. After eight or nine miscarriages, the Wades decided that the best route for their baby to come into the world was surrogacy. “We just decided as a family that the best and safest and probably our most successful route was a gestational carrier,” she shared.
Union and husband Dwyane Wade welcomed their first child together, Kaavia James Union Wade, into the world on Nov. 7 via a surrogate. Kaavia just hit her one-month-old milestone.
