Paris and Prince Jackson joined others in honoring their late father, Michael Jackson, on what would have been his sixty birthday. The son and daughter of the late King of Pop accepted the 2018 Elizabeth Taylor Legacy Award for Humanitarian Service on his behalf during the Michael Jackson diamond birthday celebration event in Las Vegas on Wednesday night (August 29).
Paris was sure to show off a few of her dance moves to a crowd that was receptive of everything she and her brother brought to the stage. Michael Jackson’s life was cut short in 2009 by a drug overdose in which his home care doctor administered too much medication at one time. The doctor was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the incident and has since been released and moved forward with his life.
Meanwhile, the Jackson family continues to ensure that the late King of Pop’s legacy lives on. “We honor [Michael Jackson] in our own way,” Paris told media at her father’s birthday celebration. “I don’t really expect anyone else to understand besides this dude, [Prince], right here. I’m just happy to be with him,” Paris noted.
Prince also commented on his father’s legacy. “Being here today is definitely an awe-inspiring feeling because our father was the King of Pop and he did so much,” the young adult said. “He did so much for the music industry, but I think he put emphasis and importance on the charitable contributions to humanity that he really used his platform to [support].”
Michael Jackson was 49-years-old at the time of his passing. He left behind three children.
