Friday was Fan Fest day, and Cam Newton’s followers scored big time. The NFL player gave attendees quite the show with his girlfriend, Kia Proctor, and kids, Chosen and Sovereign-Dior, supporting him from the sidelines.
For those who don’t know, Fan Fest is an event in which fans can get a snippet of what is to come in the upcoming football season. There are, of course, festivities that attendees can enjoy outside of the players competing on the field. In fact, there was a firework show that convened after the very public practice concluded.
“It was a good practice, and [the fans] brought a lot of energy,” head coach Ron Rivera told media. “The players responded to it,” Rod added. “You can always feel the energy level go up. That’s always cool.”
Greg Olsen also commented on Fan Fest after playing on the field with Cam on both Thursday and Friday. The two players had a bit of difficulty connecting with one another on Thursday but, nevertheless, gave an incredible show on Friday.
“We’ve caught a lot of balls this camp, probably as many as we ever have,” Olsen said after Friday’s performance. “We’ve caught a lot of balls over the years. So we have a good feel for each other,” he said of his relationship with Cam.
Olsen went on to tell media, “I feel like it’s been one of our better camps we’ve had, personally, collectively as an offense. It’s been fun to go through the whole process and see what kind of new little twists (Turner) can put on the offense.”
Cam didn’t have much to say about his performance on the field after Fan Fest. In fact, the Panthers player said, “Don’t ask me for no interviews now. I don’t want to do it. You didn’t want to do them before the game. I don’t want to do it.” Perhaps he was just tired.
