The death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin at the hands of George Zimmerman sparked an outrage, giving rise to the #blacklivesmatter movement and more, calling for an overall social change for the Black community.
To keep his name at the forefront of the movement, executive producer and co-director, Jay Z will debut his Paramount Network six-part docuseries on July 30th at 10:00 p.m. The series, entitled Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, will explore the tragic death of the young black man, in addition to featuring an in-depth examination of the investigation along with interviews by Trayvon’s parents, Carmelo Anthony, Reverend Al Sharpton, among others.
Martin was killed February 26, 2012 after being racially profiled by George Zimmerman as a suspicious person in the community. Check out the trailer below and make sure to set your DVR’s for this ever-important debut.
