Chrissy Teigen believes that families belong together and she wants her son to understand the importance of social justice as well. The celebrity mom took her infant, Miles Theodore Stephens, to the rally in support of immigrant families this past weekend. The gathering was Miles’ first protest.
Teigen took the platform at this past weekend’s “Families Belong Together – Freedom for Immigrants” rally. “I’m incredibly proud to be the daughter of an immigrant,” Chrissy told attendees. “My mother grew up in a very small village in Thailand and she never lets me forget it,” the celebrity mom added. “America at its best is big, beautiful and diverse, like our great city of Los Angeles.”
Chrissy went on to tell the rally’s attendees, “Can you imagine this city without the contributions of immigrants? How bland, how flavorless LA would be, how boring. Too many people demonize immigrants like they’re stealing something from the people born here. Immigrants don’t come here to take from us, they add to what makes America special.”
John Legend was also present at this past weekend’s protest and premiered his new song “Preach” while encouraging those in attendance to continue fighting for morality. “I think some of us have a strong temptation to just disengage, but we can’t,” John admonished. “We can’t do that. I can’t do that. I have to do something.”
Thousands of children have been separated from their parents at the border since the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy regarding illegal immigration was enacted. President Trump halted the practice of children being held in centers that resemble that of concentration camps while their parents await sentencing for entering the country illegally the other week. Still, not all children have been reunited with their parents.
