KELIS SPEAKS ON CO-PARENTING WITH NAS: ‘A PARENT ISN’T ABOUT SHOWING UP WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT’

"You Can't Not Show Up For Months And Then Show Up"

Kelis is speaking out about co-parenting with Nas after several stories have hit the media concerning the former couple’s tumultuous child custody arrangements.

“A parent isn’t about showing up when you feel like it,” Kelis tells Hollywood Unlocked in an exclusive interview. “You can’t not show up for months and then show up and try to make up your own [visitation] schedule,” the celebrity mom adds. Kelis also accuses her ex-husband of being a father who only “shows up when there’s a photo opp.”

Nas would probably deny such claims of being a “photo op” dad if questioned. In fact, the star father filed legal docs requesting that the courts penalize his ex-wife for keeping him away from their son. According to TMZ, “Nas has filed legal docs asking a judge to penalize Kelis because she refused to turn over 8-year-old Knight [during Easter weekend] … she says it’s because the kid wanted to stay with her during Passover. Nas says it was his weekend and the whole Passover thing doesn’t make sense.”

Perhaps Kelis was attempting to shield her son, Knight, from what she believed was the start of an off-and-on relationship. In any case, Knight is Kelis and Nas’ only child. Stay tuned for more celebrity parent news!
