As parents, we’re always worried about how our kids will turn out. Please, please, don’t let them be arrogant jerks or spoiled brats. Let them be helpful and productive members of society. But how do we get from point A to point B?

Avoid these five parenting behaviors that can damage your child through adulthood.

1.    Being overprotective

Before you became a parent, you rolled your eyes at the overprotective ones. Then you had your first child, and you instantly got it. You understood how those helicopter parents felt. But it’s important to fight the urge to be too overprotective. You have to let your kids make their own choices, even when you know those choices are mistakes.
