A Date Night With His Daughter At The Forum And Then An Oscar For 'Dear Basketball.' Winning!

The weekend was full of surprises and fun events for Kobe Bryant as he was the first African-American to receive an Academy Award for an animated short after taking his daughter, Natalia, to see Demi Lovato in concert.

Demi’s “Tell Me You Love Me” World Tour touched down at the Forum in Inglewood, California, and Kobe Bryant had backstage passes to all of the action. Demi and Gianna were sure to take pictures together at Friday’s show, which was a candid that the Forum shared with its social media fans.

“Spotted. @kobebryant and his daughter Natalia backstage at the Forum with @ddlovato after her show,” the Forum shared along with a photo of Demi, Kobe, and Gianna backstage. The picture garnered several thousand likes and dozens of comments. “It was such a good show,” one fan wrote. Another subscriber said that Kobe and Gianna hanging out with Demi was simply cute.

Kobe Bryant was the recipient of an Oscar award this past weekend that both excited and shocked the masses. Some critics deemed the former NBA player as unworthy of an Academy Award since he was accused of rape fifteen years ago. Many, however, moved past the incident and celebrated Bryant for his work in Dear Basketball that earned him an Oscar.

“I feel better than winning the championship,” Bryant told fans on Sunday night. “To be here right now and have like a sense of validation is, dude, this is — this is crazy, man. This is crazy.”

Kobe also revealed that is was Gianna who advised him to pursue his dreams of storytelling and turn his work into film. “[Gianna said], ‘Well dad, you always tell us to go after your dreams, so man up.'” Kobe added, “I had to man up and go for it.”
