Tamar Braxton is serious about rearing her son, Logan Herbert. The celebrity mom gives TV One her perspective on parenting that includes preparing little Logan for a society that may not value him as much because of his racial identity.
“I live my life for me, and since Logan, I live my life for us,” Tamar says. “I have to make sure I’m happy to be the best person for him. His happiness means the world to me. Me being a good example of a woman means the world to me. I realize my responsibility is not just to be [Logan’s] mother.”
The celebrity mom further explains, “My responsibility is to be Logan’s mother who is raising the most amazing black man that I can possibly have control over. And that is just making sure that he understands his education is very important, and that he is morally responsible, and that he is sure of himself, and that he knows that he can do anything that he wants to do but he definitely knows the struggles of a black man in America. A lot of people don’t want to talk about it, and it’s hard for me to even talk about it too. But it definitely exists, and I’m not getting ready to sit back and not make him aware. My son will be aware, and he will be ready. That’s my responsibility and my job.”
