David Oyelowo must be proud. The celebrity father’s son, Asher, made his debut during the Dolce & Gabbana Fashion Show earlier this month. The rising star shared photos and video clips from his time in the spotlight.
“Thank you for such an amazing time @dolcegabbana,” Asher told his Instagram fans. “On to phase two of the night,” he wrote from Milan, Italy. Asher also shared video footage of him taking on the catwalk. “Dude, yes,” one subscriber said. “Be so, so proud of yourself.” Indeed!
David Oyelowo is not one to place his kids in the limelight. He has, however, never ceased to pass on his lineage of royalty that dates back several centuries.

“My dad has tribal marks on his cheeks, he has four gashes in each cheek, which is very much part of the Yoruba tribe,” the actor said during a 2015 interview with NPR. “There are a lot of challenges I have undeniably faced as a black person both in the U.K. and in the U.S. that contrive to make me feel lesser than what I am, and I can absolutely see that in the African-American experience in this country,” he explained.

“If you feel like the beginning of your history is rooted in slavery, that really, I think, messes with your sense of self, your self-esteem, and your self-worth. But to know you came from a lineage of kings; to know that you came from a place whereby every opportunity afforded within that society is yours for the taking — it makes you get out of your bed a very different way than if you feel like today is yet another fight. So that is something I carry with me that I know has been of huge benefit as a result of my family and where I’m from.”
David Oyelowo is the proud father of four children.
