HOT TOPIC: HOW LONG IS TOO LONG WITH BOYS’ HAIR?

Let the debate begin! Rasheeda showed a video clip of her son Karter’s long hair a few weeks ago, and the footage has sparked a bit of lively discussion via Instagram.

Many fans could not get over the fact that Karter’s hair was halfway down his back. Some praised Rasheeda for going against the grain by letting her son sport hair that is longer than some girls his age. A few critics, however, were not too fond of little Karter’s hair and posed the question of how long is too long.

“He’s not a girl,” one follower said. “Why is it so impressive for him to have long hair? It’s just hair, cut it and give him a cute haircut for a boy. Next, he’ll be observing over hair too.” One critic was so ignorant to say, “He is clearly losing his hairline, and she still won’t cut his hair. I don’t understand the obsession.”

The good news is that Instagram is not Karter’s mom and, hence, doesn’t get to dictate when it’s time for a haircut. Equally thrilling were the responses that many diehard Rasheeda fans gave in her defense.

“Some of your comments are absolutely ridiculous,” one subscriber wrote. “There is nothing wrong with a boy having long hair. If he had locks no one would have anything to say.” Another commenter said, “Cracking up laughing at bald head wig wearing birds who’s jealous over a lil boy with longer hair than theirs.”

The motivation behind mean-spirited comments online remains ambiguous. Still, Rasheeda and her son’s hair controversy begs the question of why complete strangers feel the need to tell parents, especially moms, how to rear their kids. Also, what golden rule is there on the books saying a boy suddenly becomes a girl when his hair grows long?

Anyway, Karter is Rasheeda’s youngest child with Kirk Frost. Stay tuned for more celebrity mom news!
