Tisha Campbell-Martin commemorated another birthday with family and friends over the weekend. The actress had her husband and oldest son, Xen, with her to celebrate.
Eric Bellinger delivered incredible vocals while singing his rendition of The Birthday Song. The recording artist hit highs and lows that gave partygoers chills. Even Tisha gave an expression that showed how impressed she was by Eric’s talent. “@ericbellinger singing #happybirthday to meeeeee,” the actress shared online.
Tisha enjoyed her birthday celebration at Xen Lounge, which is her and husband Duane Martin’s restaurant. The couple named the hotspot after their 16-year-old son, Xen, who lives with autism. Tisha shared her experience with rearing a child who has special needs during an interview earlier this year.
“As a mother of a child who had to go through specific struggles, you want the best for them, but when you get this particular diagnosis you have to retrain your brain to think of your dreams and aspirations when it comes to your child to be a little bit more basic,” she said. “You don’t have time to feel guilty, you don’t have time to feel sorry for him, for yourself or your family—it’s time to get down and busy.”
Tisha went on to tell media, “I gave myself three days, to mourn the loss of my dreams of aspirations for my kid. Now I had to get him to just say ‘mommy, ouch, hurt, please, love you.’ That’s all I needed. You gotta put in the work and you don’t have time to feel guilty, you just gotta get everybody on the same page and quick.”
Tisha and her husband have been on the same page all these years and it shows through Xen’s development. The teen will soon come to the next stage in life, which is adulthood and rise to the challenge of adjusting accordingly. Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin are the proud parents of two kids.
