KELLY ROWLAND ON MOTHERHOOD: ‘HARDEST PART IS WATCHING THEM GROW UP’

She has a 2-year-old who’s preparing to exit the “Terrible Twos” stage of life, a lash subscription called Elora Lane that’s in development, and a children’s clothing line in the works. Kelly Rowland is quite busy these days. The celebrity mom tells Personal Space about her life as a working parent and author of one of the most candid books about post-birthing that bookstores have seen in a while.

“My favorite part about motherhood is watching the world through their eyes,” the star mom says. “It’s the best feeling ever,” Kelly adds. The celebrity parent goes on to admit that the “hardest part is watching them grow up. He’s getting bigger, he’s no longer my baby.”

Little Titan will soon turn 3-years-old and enter the next stage in life, which is detachment through school attendance. At least Kelly has the memories of pregnancy and birthing on which she can fall back. In fact, the singer wrote a book called Whoa, Baby!: A Guide for New Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed and Freaked Out (and Wonder What the #*$& Just Happened in which she addresses the things that go on behind the scenes of the labor and delivery experience that few talk about. Kelly’s chapter titled, “So Now We’re Both Wearing Diapers?” is particularly insightful as it frankly speaks of new moms wearing adult diapers after giving birth due to limited mobility and other factors.

“What inspired me to write Whoa, Baby was the fact that there is no book out there like it,” Rowland shares. “There were all these books about the baby. There was no book about moms and what happens to her physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. New moms go through quite a lot after having their baby.”

You can check out Whoa, Baby online or in bookstores nationwide. Titan is Kelly Rowland’s only son with her husband, Tim Witherspoon.
