Walter Jones and his son were two of many in attendance at the Queen Mary’s Dark Habor Media & VIP Preview event earlier this week. The Power Rangers star took several pictures in the spotlight with his “mini me,” all of which showed the similar fashion sense the two shared.
Those who grew up during the 1990s remember Walter as the Mighty Morphin Black Ranger on the popular Power Rangers series. Jones was a favorite among the masses because of his exuberance that brought loads of energy to the show.
“[It had] no Hip Hop Kido,” Walter said of the series’ culture and his key role during an interview.
“It was a major motivator for so many fans to explore physical arts, dancing, gymnastics, parkour, etcetera,” he added. “My character was the only character with that ability. It should have been included in some fashion.”
Perhaps the funniest part of Walter’s Power Rangers story is the fact that he nearly missed his opportunity. “I almost missed it because I was doing ‘Star Search’ at the time,” he said during an interview in 2012. “After 2-3 callbacks, with Saban, I learned that they wanted an actor who can dance, do martial arts, and gymnastics. It just happened that I had all the right characteristics for the role. You learn early on that in this industry the more you can do, the better.”
