Yesterday was National Daughter’s Day. Holly Robinson Peete and Kimora Lee Simmons were two famous moms who took to Instagram to celebrate. The star parents shared pictures of their daughters along with precious captions.
“Hold up it’s #NationalDaughterDay,” Holly asked online. She went on to tell her daughter, Ryan, that she was missed at home.

Holly and her husband, Rodney Peete Sr., moved their daughter into the college dormitory room several months back. The young adult’s departing moment was captured on camera and shared with OWN viewers in February during an episode of For Peete’s Sake. Ryan got a bit emotional during a luncheon right before heading off to New York University.
Kimora Lee Simmons also shared a photo of her with her daughters, Ming and Aoki on National Daughters Day. The star mom wrote, “To all the moms, sisters, cousins, aunts, grandmas, friends out there… lots of love and #HappyNationalDaughterDay.”
Simmons is recognized as a fashion icon since taking the runway by storm during the 1980s and launching Baby Phat at the turn of the century, which turned out to be an urban phenomenon. “Who I am is a mixture of a lot of different things,” Kimora told Refinery29 earlier this month.
“So I would never not represent that on the runway,” she explained. “I’ve done it out of necessity to explain and express who I am and to embrace my people — my people in quotes meaning anybody that is of a diverse background, that is mixed or whatever other box they’re checking. So I couldn’t do this without paying homage to myself, my children, and where I came from.”
National Daughters Day became a thing in the United States several decades ago. Some don’t celebrate but other parents go all out with special gifts for their daughters. Learn more about National Daughters Day below!
