MADONNA ON ADOPTING TWIN GIRLS FROM MALAWI: ‘I WANTED DANCING CHILDREN IN MY KITCHEN’

How has life been for Madonna since welcoming her daughters, Estere and Stelle, into her home? Indescribable.

“It’s inexplicable,” Madonna tells PEOPLE of her twin daughters. “It’s like saying, ‘Why do you fall in love with the people you fall in love with?’ You look into the eyes of somebody, you feel their soul, you feel touched by them — that’s it.”

Madonna made a connection with Estere and Stelle in Malawi. “Sometimes I would just close my eyes and just think, ‘Why isn’t my kitchen filled with dancing children?’ There’s so many children that need a home,” Madonna explains. “I thought, ‘What am I waiting for? Just do it.'”

Surprisingly enough, the singer’s kids fully supported her desire to add to the family. “Mercy and David were excited,” Madonna reveals. “There might have been [a feeling of], ‘Oh, we have to share you with more people’ — not jealousy, but an adjustment,” she admits. “Eventually everyone was supportive. Lola said, ‘Mom, if that’s what you want and it’s going to make you happy, let’s go.'”

Although a bit of adjusting was necessary, Madonna tells PEOPLE, “It didn’t take long for them to get acclimated.” The ‘Material Girl’ singer is the proud mother of six kids.
