If you are a parent, then you know that with a toddler, temper tantrums, irritability, and being unreasonable are all a part of the territory. So, when Ohio father Terrel Rico Relz-Crawford’s three-year-old daughter, Ari, had the ever so familiar “no” meltdown in Walmart, he took the opportunity to turn the toddler tantrum into a parenting lesson.
In the six-minute video, Relz-Crawford took his daughter outside for a heart-to-heart father-daughter teachable moment. The Facebook video post was shared more than 312,000 times and has been viewed more than 21 million times. As a result of the popularity of the video, Relz-Crawford will now host monthly Q&A sessions entitled, Patience in Parenting.
“Being an African-American father, in general in the world, you don’t get that much credit. Being a father in the world in general, we don’t get as much credit,” Crawford said in regards to parenting. “But I’ve always worked against that. It never mattered what I went through personally, I always wanted to be a great father to my children.”
