JOHN LEGEND TALKS LIFE AND FAMILY WITH ‘COSMOPOLITAN’

John Legend wants nothing more than to be the backbone of his family and that includes supporting his wife, Chrissy Teigen, in all of her endeavors.

“I want her to be happy and to live the fullest, most awesome life she can, and I want us to do it together,” the ‘Love Me Now’ singer tells Cosmopolitan. “Whenever she sets her mind to anything, I always tell her, ‘I want to support you and help you do it.'”

It seems that Chrissy has her mind set on having more kids. “Having a baby is a big challenge for a couple, and going through that together strengthens your bond because if you make it through [having a child], you know you can make it through anything,” John says.

It was just a year and a half ago that Chrissy and John struggled to expand their family. The couple took several jabs at IVF treatment before conceiving their daughter, Luna Stephens.

“I think it’s especially difficult when you can’t conceive naturally,” John says of his and Chrissy’s situation. “You want to feel like everything’s working properly and want everything to be perfect, but sometimes it’s not. I wouldn’t say we can’t conceive naturally, but I would say that it’s enough of a challenge where it felt like we needed help. We’re lucky that we’re living in an age where we can conceive in other ways. [IVF] brought us Luna and hopefully, it will bring us a few more awesome kids, too.”

Luna certainly is awesome. The little one has struck such cute poses online that her fan base may be just as great as, if not greater than, mom and dad’s tribe of followers. Luna’s pictures while on vacation in Bali struck a special cord with parents as one candid showed Chrissy living through a wardrobe malfunction after her daughter ripped off her top’s button in public. Still, Chrissy took the moment like a champ and chalked Luna’s actions up to kids being kids. Most definitely!

John Legend carries the same positive outlook when approaching life’s challenges. “I don’t want to present myself as the ‘perfect spouse’ and I don’t want to present our relationship as the ‘perfect relationship’ because I don’t think anybody meets that definition,” he tells Cosmopolitan. “I think it should be cool to be a good partner, a good spouse, a good father, and/or a good parent. If I’m one of the people who helps make that cooler, I think that’s great.”
