It’s hard to believe that a hip mom such as Jada Pinkett Smith lost her groove at one point in life but, nevertheless, it is so. The Girls Trip star tells The Project that she, like every other woman who has experienced motherhood, once became involved in parenting to the extent of loosing parts of her identity.
“I think every woman that’s had kids has definitely lost her groove at some point because, naturally, all of our focus goes into raising our child or our children,” Jada says. “And you just kind of wake up one day and go, ‘Oh my gosh. Where did I go?’ And then it takes us a minute to regain ourselves.”
Girls Trip, in which Jada stars alongside the hilarious likes of Queen Latifah and Tiffany Haddish, is a film focused on women doing just that. The story focuses on old college friends who take a trip to New Orleans that is nothing short of wild.
“I felt like audiences were ready for this movie, and I haven’t seen a movie quite like this one,” Jada says of the film. “It was a bit of a risk, for sure, but I thought people were ready.”
