From actress, to fashionista, to activist, Black-ish star Yara Shahidi does it all. That is why it comes as no surprise that the young star was presented on August 5th, at NJPAC in Newark, NJ, with the “Young Gifted and Black Award” at the 2017 Black Girls Rock event.
With her dedication to the community both domestically and abroad, Shahidi constantly serves as a voice of her generation, proving that #blackgirlmagic is real. Also in attendant for the event were Sokhna Diallo, Trinitee Stokes, and Skai Jackson.
Black Girls Rock! was created by Beverly Bond to honor the achievements of Black women whom have broken barriers in art, business, entertainment, and community service. The program will air on BET August 20th.
