Bullying has become an epidemic not only in the United States but world-wide. According to statistics 1 out of 4 kids is bullied every month in our country. 1 out of 10 children drop out of school due to bullying. 160,000 kids miss school each day for fear of being bullied. And sadly, 4,400 deaths occur each year as a result of bullying.
Gabriel L. Silva, known for his role as Tomas Coughlin in the Ben Affleck mafia-thriller, Live By Night, has made it his mission to give kids that are victims of bullying a voice. A victim of bullying himself, the young rising star found his voice through acting and modeling. Determined to give back, Silva founded Take Action Apparel & Gear, a clothing line for kids, to help give self-expression a fashionable unique outlet, letting kids know that it is okay for them to be exactly who the are.

“Take Action Apparel & Gear was something that my mother and I came up with to help spread the anti-bullying movement in a fun and unique way. We gathered friends and family, came up with a few designs, and it took off from there. Giving kids that have been bullied a voice is important but making sure that they know that they are not alone is priceless.”
From t-shirts, to fashion necklace dog tags, to tote bags, journals, and more, Take Action Apparel & Gear has it all, just in time for back-to-school. This morning Silva and a few of his friends were featured in his first live television fashion show on Great Day Houston, hosted by Debra Duncan, highlighting a few pieces from the collection.
Among the models, Silva recruited friend, brand rep, and fellow actress, Kamryn Johnson, known for her roles in Bessie and Hidden Figures, to kick-off the fashion fun.
