Just call it the LeBron Effect. LeBron Jr. and Bryce have joined their teammates in competing in the 12th Annual USBA National Championship series. The James boys’ teams are among 500 teams competing on 21 courts at the Convention Center in Uptown.
“It’s just the LeBron James effect,” former Tar Heel and USBA VP of Development Jason Capel tells media. “His kids play in our tournament. They’re sixth grade and fourth grade. Great players, but they’re good kids, and they’re not the only good kids in this tournament. We have 500 teams, and so many quality players. This just happens to be the children of the best player in the world.”
It was just last year that LeBron James spoke with media about his drive for excellence on the court that sometimes separates him from the family during basketball season. “During the season you’re wrapped into the whole basketball thing and how to prepare to win every night and things of that nature,” he shared. “The family takes a hit because you don’t get to spend as much time with them as you would like. So, in the offseason, I spend a lot of time with the family.”
LeBron has got to beaming right about now as both of his sons are showing signs of greatness on the court. LeBron Jr., in particular, has been filmed while exhibiting incredible talent and teamwork.
“I let their coaches coach them,” LeBron said of his sons’ activity on the court. “I told my son (LeBron Jr.) when he’s ready for the blueprint, I’ll give it to him,” the star athlete added. “But right now all I care about is him having fun. Have fun, play hard, and play for your team, and that’s all that matters right now.”
He may be ready for that blueprint sooner rather than later, LeBron. Check out little LeBron’s incredible basketball skills in the clip below!
