Just call her a Mommy Mogul in the making! Celebrity stylist Ashley North entered the fashion industry after moving to Los Angeles and assisting star stylists such as Tameka Foster and Dawn Haynes. Now, the mother of two and fiancee of NFL player Dashon Goldson, is creating her own path that includes ideas for a clothing line and creative directing.
BCK recently caught up with Ashley North to talk about her life as a mom, celebrity stylist, and fiancée. Check out the interview below!

BCK: How do you juggle being a mom and wife with your demanding career?
Firstly, I try to always prioritize my family. What I have found is when I do that everything else kind of falls into place. I get creative with my hours in the day, but I’m lucky in that way because I don’t have a typical 9-5. Lastly, I am blessed with a great support system around me so the times when I am really busy I can depend on them to fill in the blanks.

BCK: How did you get your start as a celebrity stylist?
After I graduated from college I started working with a small local magazine in Seattle producing their fashion shoots. I really fell in love with styling while doing that, so I decided to move to LA to go to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. While I was in school I started assisting some really great stylists like Tameka Foster and Dawn Haynes. Through these experiences and networking I was able to start out on my own.

BCK: What is the most challenging thing about being a celebrity stylist?
I think the most challenging aspect of my job is being your own boss. It definitely comes with its perks but to be a creative person and also a business person takes a lot of work. There’s so much more to the job than just styling.

BCK: What is your take on the latest fashion trends? What do you think about children’s fashion these days?
I am loving where fashion is right now. The 80’s fashion comeback is still super cool and on trend. Lots of bright colors, stripes, and mixing of prints. Have fun with fashion especially this summer.

Regarding Children’s Fashion, I love how it’s evolving and you can find a lot of adult clothing trends things that I would wear are now available in kids sizes. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get cute trendy clothes.

strong>BCK: What are your career plans moving forward? Is a clothing line in the works?
My ultimate goal is to become a Mommy Mogul. I am working toward having my hands in a lot of different things. Moving forward I am focusing on doing more on camera fashion corresponding and creative directing. I am also working on a few non-fashion related projects that I am really excited about.

Regarding a clothing line, I definitely have ideas on paper and in current discussion and planning that I would love to put in motion but for right now my first priority and focus is building my Brand.

BCK: What are your summer must-have items?
A few of my favorite summer must haves are vintage Levis jean shorts and light weight button ups. I love these two because you can dress them up or down, you can wear them to dinner with heels or to the pool over your bathing suit. I also love a jumpsuit or romper as they are super easy for the mommy on the go but still give you a stylish look.

BCK: What are your go-to stores for your children?
My go-to stores for my girls are Baby Gap and Zara. There are also a lot of cute little boutiques on Instagram that I absolutely love a few of my favorites are: Little Urban Apparel, Rylee and Cru and Mini Basic.

I also have a few friends that have opened children’s boutiques that I love. 1: Seedlings @seedlingsretail she carries a lot of very unique items that are on my must have list. 2: The Brand Finale @thebrandfinale her clothing is reasonably priced for very trendy clothes. Love to support my friends!
