All eyes were on Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian at the 2017 Costume Institute Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art event (Met Gala) in New York City this past Monday. The star tennis player and her fiance took the red carpet by storm and made certain that Serena’s baby bump was on display.
Williams cradled her protruding stomach in several shots as photographers snapped shots of her showing off her gown for the evening. The pregnancy glow was certainly evident as Serena was all smiles throughout her time on the red carpet.
It has been a few weeks since the world learned of Serena and Alexis’ expectancy. Williams recently told Gayle King that her official pregnancy announcement was actually an accident. “I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m going,” the star athlete said.
Serena went on to tell Gayle that she unintentionally pressed the share button, which released what was meant to be a personal pregnancy marker to the world. “On social media, you press the wrong button and… Thirty minutes later I missed four calls and I’m like, ‘That’s weird.’ But it was a good moment. I was only going to wait five or six more days [to share],” she explained.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are expecting their first child to arrive in coming months. The star couple is also planning to wed in the near future.
