Here’s a pair that we haven’t seen in a while. Djimon Hounsou and his son, Kenzo, were photographed while hanging out a few weeks ago.
“Chilling with #KenzoLeeHounsou,” Djimon told his Instagram fans. The celebrity father also uploaded a picture of him and his son hanging out at the lake. “Cute as a button,” one follower wrote. “You must be very proud.”
Djimon is quite proud of Kenzo and the bond that he shares with his son. It was just a few months ago that Hounsou expressed excitement over his character in the original cartoon series Black Panther that is coming to the big screen soon.
“It’s absolutely great news to have a hero that black folks can identify with,” Djimon said of Luke Cage’s persona being portrayed by Chadwick Boseman. “Could you imagine my misfortune when my son told me: ‘I want to be light-skinned so I can climb the walls like Spider-Man’ – just because he has seen Spider-Man and Batman and all these superheroes who were all white,” Hounsou revealed.
“I was like, wow, what sort of comeback do you have for this,” the actor asked. “It’s important to recognize yourself,” he added. “It’s absolutely important. That’s the value in telling stories. There’s a reason why we create fantasy stories, so we can surpass this life condition.”
Kenzo is Djimon Hounsou’s only child with Kimora Lee Simmons. He celebrates his eighth birthday in November.
