Mahershala Ali can’t get enough of his newborn daughter, Bari Najma. The actor tells E! News about his life as a dad.
“She’s super cute. I kiss her so much,” Mahershala tells media. “She’s full hands-on during the day. She likes to be held so she’s a little hard to put down right now. We’re doing good. It’s nice that everything is settling down to some degree.”
Like any new father, Mahershala is always thinking of his daughter. “I think about her even when I’m sleeping because I know she’s laying there right with me so I have my hand on her making sure I don’t roll on her,” the actor reveals. “So I’m always conscious that she’s near me even when I’m sleeping. It’s a very present awareness that you have of the well being of this other person.”
The well-being of Bari includes diaper changes of which Mahershala takes part. “I’m pretty good,” Ali says of his ability to exchange dirty diapers for clean underwear. “I’m not bad at it,” he adds.
Bari Najma was born on February 22, 2017. The little one arrived just days before Mahershala Ali won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Moonlight.
