Nickelodeon’s 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards was full of surprises but Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s fabulous co-parenting skills were not one of the shockers. The former couple took the red carpet by storm with their kids, Monroe and Moroccan.
Mariah and Monroe matched one another, while Nick and Moroccan were twins for the evening. The girls of the party were certainly divas in their own right. Monroe walked for a bit before being carried into the venue by dad. Mariah got a bit of spotlight of her own as she smiled for the cameras while Nick handled what appeared to be a small quarrel with the kids.
Cannon and Carey are perfect examples of healthy co-parenting. “You put the kids first,” Nick said during a recent interview. “When you understand that you have unconditional love for these human beings and you want the best existence for them, then you put whatever differences you may have had aside,” he added.
Nick went on to tell media that arguments between former spouses are usually more about pride than the issues at hand. “A lot of times, when you think about breakups in relationships, it’s usually over ego,” Cannon explained. “If you can remove your ego from that, and make it about your loved ones, then that’s what it’s about.”
