Yara Shahidi is known for her altruistic-nature and passionate voice to lead the battle cry for change. So, when ASOS Magazine was on the hunt for someone to grace the cover of their “knowledge is power” issue, it was a no-brainer that the prolific seventeen-year-old Black-ish star be included.
Taking this powerful issue to another level beyond print, ASOS Magazine also recently held a live discussion with Shahidi and model, actress, and founder of Gurls Talk, Adwoa Aboah. The young women sat down to talk about fashion, hope, activism, self-care, and more.
Radiating joy ☀️️⚡️ Tonight was something of a dream. To be able to talk fashion+hope+activism+self care and anything else that came to mind was special. What made it even more special, was sitting beside the brilliant @adwoaaboah and @frannybabb !!! Thank you to team @asos , @frannybabb , @adwoaaboah and @etucker_pr for making this so much more than a cover shoot, but a platform to share, an opportunity to educate, and a moment to learn. #KnowledgeIsPower and I'm happy to be able to work alongside such amazing women ⚡️⚡️ (pic stolen from @frannybabb ?) ps. The # live discussion link is on the #asos FB page ✨
Check out the video below. It is definitely one conversation that promotes the idea that #knowledgeispower and everyone needs to hear that!
