Talk about baby fever! Sanya Richards-Ross and her husband, Aaron Ross, are expecting a child! The couple announced the impending birth of their little one on Valentine’s Day.
“Sweetest Valentine’s gift EVER,” Sanya exclaimed. “#BabyRoss coming Summer 2017.” Aaron was photographed while kissing his wife’s protruding stomach. Sanya was over the moon in the photo as she held balloons that read, “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Sanya is recognized for her incredible accomplishments as an Olympian. The star athlete won a gold medal during the 2012 Summer Games after completing the 400-meter run first. Sanya finished third in the same race during the 2008 Olympic Games.
“I remember at a very young age watching the Olympics and wanting to be a part of something like that,” Sanya told PEOPLE last year. The star athlete planned to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio at the time.
“This year, I’m really training from a place of love, hope, and anticipation,” Sanya said of her mindset when preparing for competition. “I really hope this will be my swan song, and I’ll be able to leave the sport on a really high note,” she added.
Sanya scored a gig as a sports broadcaster during the U.S. Olympic Trials for Track and Field and decided to retire ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games. She is expecting her first child with her husband.
