CHANCE THE RAPPER THANKS DAUGHTER AT 2017 GRAMMY AWARDS

Sunday night was big for Chance the Rapper as he was the recipient of three GRAMMY awards. The rapper was sure to thank God and his daughter, Kinsley, for his success.

“Glory be to God,” Chance began his acceptance speech for Best New Artist. “I claim this victory in the name of The Lord,” he added.

“I want to thank God for my mother and my father who’ve supported me since I was young,” the rapper commented. Chance also gave a shoutout to his daughter and “all of Chicago” during his speech.

Sunday’s win was big for Chance the Rapper in more ways than one. The star is the first independent recording artist to win a GRAMMY after giving his music away to listeners for free. Although he often boasts of his refusal to sign a record deal, Chance admits that his creativity is not a one-man show.

“I want to thank God for my team,” he said on Sunday night. “I know that people think independence means you do it by yourself, but independence means freedom. I do it with these folks right here.”

Chance also has family by his side. It was just a few days ago that the rapper took to Instagram to dote on his daughter.

“Nothing I’m doing currently would be possible without this girl right here,” Chance said of Kinsley. “She’s so kind and loving and brilliant and beautiful. And I wouldn’t have her without her mother, so thank you for creating and raising the greatest gift I’ve ever received.”

Chance the Rapper is the proud father of one child. Kinsley celebrates her second birthday in September.
