Actor, model, and entrepreneur are things that we first think of when it comes to eighteen-year-old Jaden Smith. However, he is also a prolific and passionate activist. Making headlines in January, in support of his four-year-long protest against the Trump administration, along-side pal Shia LaBeouf, in addition to taking part in protests to stop the DAPL pipeline, among others, Smith is definitely a voice of his generation.
In addition to all of his many causes, Smith is also very passionate about the environment. It is no wonder why he has been slated to speak at the first-ever IMPACT Summit, held by the Environmental Media Association, (EMA), which seeks to find solutions to environmental issues via media and pop culture.
This isn’t the first time that Smith has partnered with the EMA. If you remember, he was honored in October of last year with the Male EMA Futures Award for his environmental work, specifically highlighting his entrepreneurial venture-JUST Water, which sells spring water in paper and plant plastic based eco-friendly bottles.
“We are so honored to be able to share with the global public this inspiring young voice for environmental issues and sustainability,” EMA president Debbie Levin commented about Smith as reported by ENews at the time. “Jaden is a true activist and role model that can authentically lead his generation to a more thoughtful and conscious future.”
The focus of the event will be on bringing together everyone from entrepreneurs to college students in order to promote positive change in the environment, especially since there is growing concern with the direction of the new administration’s focus on the issue.
The event will be held March 23-24th at the Montage in Beverly Hills, CA. Tickets are still available for purchase. If interested, click here.
