It’s official! Madonna has added two more children from Malawi to her family. The Pop singer took to Instagram to announce her newest additions on Wednesday.
“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family,” Madonna shared. “I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media please to respect our privacy during this transitional time. Thank you also to my friends, family and my very large team for all your support and Love!”
A spokesperson for the Malawi judicial system informed media of Madonna’s plans to adopt twins on Tuesday. “Today the High Court made a ruling that she should go ahead and adopt the two children,” the official said. “Within a year she should provide us with a home survey report which the court has ordered her to provide.”
Madonna was secretive about her latest adoption efforts and even dispelled reports of her ambitions a few weeks ago. “Rumors of an adoption process are untrue,” the ‘Material Girl’ singer revealed. “I am in Malawi to check on the children’s hospital in Blantyre and my other work with Raising Malawi and then heading home.”
The twin sisters make Madonna a mom six times over and marks the third time that the singer has adopted children from Malawi. David and Mercy are also from the southeast African country.
