Paris Jackson, the daughter of the the late King of Pop, opens up about her famous dad, her issues with depression and more in an exclusive interview with Rollingstone magazine. Inside the publication, the 18-year-old reveals that she tried to commit suicide several times when she was 15, but it was only made public once.
“It was just once that it became public,” Paris says of her suicide attempts. “It was just self-hatred, low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore.”
“I was doing a lot of things that 13-, 14-, 15-year-olds shouldn’t do,” she recalls. “I tried to grow up too fast, and I wasn’t really that nice of a person.”
Miss Jackson has since gotten help for her self-esteem issues and depression. She now has an interest in modeling and says that modeling has helped to boost her self-confidence.
“Plenty of people think I’m ugly, and plenty of people don’t,” she says. “But there’s a moment when I’m modeling where I forget about my self-esteem issues and focus on what the photographer’s telling me — and I feel pretty. And in that sense, it’s selfish.”
