Put another stellar job description on her resume! Malia Obama has scored a gig as an intern for Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
According to Page Six, “Sources buzzed about the gig before inaugural weekend.” This marks the third time that Malia has scored an internship with a big ticket show or producer in Hollywood. The eldest daughter of President and First Lady Obama interned for Lena Dunham on the set of the hit HBO series Girls in 2015.
“She’s a fan, and she mentioned that to Lena [Dunham] when she came to the White House,” an inside source told Us Weekly. “I’m not sure how long she’ll be interning for,” the insider added. “It’s a bit of a trial thing for her. They’ve known each other and discussed for a while. Lena and her get along great.”
It was in 2013 that Malia served on the set of Halle Berry’s Extant. The teen did not receive special privileges as Malia was seen fetching coffee for executives like any other assistant working on the show. Camryn Manheim confirmed that the president’s daughter worked on the set after several rumors circulated.
“I can tell you that’s true. I can tell you that [Malia] is graceful, and lovely, and just charming and delightful… She’s pretty remarkable,” the veteran star revealed. Manheim further explained, “When you get hoisted into the spotlight like that, and you grow up under the scrutiny of everybody, and to come out being so charming and in charge of herself, with so much poise, it’s beautiful.”
Malia begins her first year at Harvard University later this year. She celebrated her eighteenth birthday last July.
