Pete Souza is one of many who will miss the Obamas when they leave office later this week. The president’s photographer shared a few Kodak moments with his Instagram subscribers on Wednesday that included snapshots of President Obama enjoying a snowstorm with his daughters.
“Snowstorm 2010,” Pete captioned. “The President with Sasha and Malia.”
The photographer further explained, “People are always asking me to choose my favorite picture of the President. But I just can’t do it. So let me tell you about my favorite day. It was a Saturday in February 2010. Washington was under siege with snow. I slept in my office overnight, knowing I probably couldn’t drive to the White House the next day. And then I guessed…and yes, hoped…that the President of the United States would be a dad and play with his girls in the snow. And he did.”
Souza captured many moments of President Obama’s two terms during his stint as a photographer for the commander-in-chief. One photo was especially significant as it apprehended the somber mood of the president after the Sandy Hook tragedy. Mark Barden, whose son was killed in the school shooting, introduced the commander-in-chief. President Obama shed tears during the press conference as he encouraged Congress to consider the concept of gun control.
