Things are not looking good for Paula Patton and Robin Thicke. The former couple are in a custody battle according to family friends who tell PEOPLE that things are getting ugly between the entertainers.
“The judge denied all of Paula’s requests for custody,” A family friend reveals. “She wanted more custody because of her allegations of physical abuse, which are untrue and unfounded,” the source adds.
Paula allegedly thinks that Robin may be abusing their son, Julian, because of the singer’s discipline tactics. Legal documents claim that Patton has “become concerned about [Robin]’s drinking and drug use, as well as the forms of punishment he is using to discipline Julian” these past few months.
According to Us Weekly, Paula and Robin’s son told school administrators that his father goes too far with spankings several weeks back. The media source reports,
“Their six-year-old son Julian reportedly told school officials that Thicke allegedly spanked him more than once. The school then allegedly reported the incident to the DCFS on January 3 and the department opened an investigation.”
Thicke has since been cleared of any wrongdoing in the area of child abuse. “Robin has had his head down and has been working on new music,” a family friend revealed after Thursday’s CPS verdict in Robin’s favor. “Anyone who knows Robin knows that Julian is the light of his life,” the source added. “He would never hurt Julian. He’s not a bad guy.”
It has been nearly two years since Paula Patton and Robin Thicke finalized their divorce. “It didn’t work out. It was a good time,” Paula said of her and Robin’s marriage during an interview with ET Online last year. “Yes, I was very in love. …I am hoping to feel that way soon,” she added.
Paula was optimistic about the possibility of finding love again. “I am a nurturing and very passionate person,” she shared. “I love to love and I believe in love so much. …No matter what happens, love hurts.”
Julian is Paula Patton and Robin Thicke’s only child. He celebrates his seventh birthday in April.
