Family means everything to Michael Bivins who recently shared video footage of his youngest daughter, Starlah, with Instagram fans. The little one was spending the day with daddy at the mall where she took a ride on the train with dad.
“Starlah said daddy each day this week , you hang with each daughter, then mommy and then family Sunday,” Mike exclaimed. “That Lil seat [on the train] was rough on me but we rode through the mall,” Bivins added.
Fans will get a small snippet of Mike’s life as a rising star as BET revisits the making of New Edition in its miniseries, The New Edition Story. Bryshere Y. Gray portrays Bivins on the small screen and viewers can almost be certain to see the theme of family laced throughout his character.
“To me, there is a difference between a father and daddy,” Mike Bivins said in an open letter in 2015. “When I married my wife, Teasha, I knew that now that I had my own family and three beautiful little girls, I was gonna make time to raise them and help them understand who they are and not who I wanted them to be.”
Bivins went on to explain his theory on the difference between being a father and dad. “Your kids call you Daddy because of the time you spend with them and the love you share with words and moments in the same house,” he shared. “Fathers sometimes don’t live in the house and come around every now and again. When some kids introduce their dads, they say, ‘That’s my father.’ My kids say, ‘That’s my daddy.'”
Michael Bivins is the proud father of three daughters. The singer’s story as it pertains to making his famous group, New Edition, premieres on BET on January 24, 2017. The New Edition Story will be a three-night miniseries.
