This year was filled with surprises that included a few shocking pregnancy announcements and births. Here are twelve of many new family additions of 2016 that left us amazed.
1. Kobe Bryant
Vanessa and Kobe Bryant announced their expectancy just weeks after Kobe retired from the NBA. The couple took to Instagram to celebrate their daughter’s impending arrival and were that much more excited to welcome Bianka to the family earlier this month.
2. Tika Sumpter
Ellen Loren made Tika Sumpter a mom for the first time in October. The Haves and Have Nots actress did not immediately announce her expectancy due to fear of criticism. “She’s my first child, and I wanted to experience every moment of this pregnancy for myself and enjoy it without everybody else being in it with me,” Sumpter told media after giving birth. “Social media can be harsh, and I’m a mama bear, protective of my family. So, that’s why I waited to tell people, including some friends.”
3. Nick Young
He was engaged to another woman when his ex-girlfriend announced their expectancy. Nick Young and Keonna Green welcomed their second child on October 27, 2016. “I don’t know what was going on in his household, but me and Nick have lots of history,” Keonna revealed. “I don’t feel guilty because I was in love with a man, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only woman.”
4. Jurnee Smollett
“He’s here.” Jurnee Smollett and Josiah Bell welcomed their son last month. Little Hunter made them parents for the first time. “So in love with our little man,” Jurnee gushed.
