Shareef O’Neal is a big name in high school basketball but he’s not letting the hype get to him. The up-and-coming star athlete tells TMZ Sports that his father has given him sound advice.
“To just not feel pressure when there’s a big crowd,” Shareef says of his dad’s suggestion.
Shaq has definitely made his mark in the NBA but Shareef believes that he can surpass the accomplishments of his father. The teen tells TMZ that being better than his father on the court is a matter of “mastering his style of game. I know I have to get stronger,” he shares. “Also, bringing my style of game. Having an inside and outside game, I think that could take me pretty far in the basketball world.”

Shareef’s strategy has certainly been working in the field of free throws. “The routine I do, it comes from him,” Shareef says of his current technique. “He told me what he does. I mean, I don’t do the same exact thing because obviously, he didn’t really make a lot of free throws.” The up-and-coming O’Neal also shares, “I can make an outside shot. I think that the soft touch, that’s the reason it goes in.”
Shaquille O’Neal parents five kids with ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal. Shareef is the oldest of the siblings who will celebrate his seventeenth birthday next month.
