Torrey Smith has been nominated for the 2016 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and his family is hard at work campaigning for his cause. Thanks to Nationwide, you can use your Twitter account to help Smith win $25,000 for the Torrey Smith Family Fund.
Earlier this week, Torrey’s wife Chanel took to Instagram to ask fans to vote for her husband.
“Kam says vote for his daddy,” Chanel shared along with a picture of the youngest family member posing yesterday. “All my peeps with twitter go flood y’all timelines. 3rd place has 5000 votes we can do that!” Today’s update placed Torrey near the 20,000 mark. “Go to twitter and RT your hearts away,” Chanel exclaimed.
The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award is named after the late Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton who made his mark on the field and in the community before passing away in 1999. Torrey Smith was named among this year’s 32 finalists because of his passion for paying it forward.
“I’m very humbled to be recognized by my peers as the 49ers team nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award,” he tells the press.
“I strive to be the best man that I can be by setting a good example for my two boys as well as those who look up to me. I understand the responsibility that comes from being in this position and it is an honor to be associated with Walter Payton and his legacy.”
The 2016 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award recipient will be announced in Houston, Texas on February 4, 2016. Torrey and Chanel Smith are the proud parents of two kids.
