Divas unite! Mariah Carey and Beyonce met up at Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You event in New York City and they commemorated the event with an incredible group picture.
Bey brought her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, along for the show. The famous toddler met up with Mariah’s kids, Monroe and Moroccan, backstage for a group photo that was epic in all forms. Blue held a large fan over her face while posing for the candid. Monroe and Moroccan were dressed to impress in red and black. Mariah’s daughter clutched her white scarf while smiling for the camera. The singer’s son held mom’s hand while focusing on the lens.
All I Want For Christmas Is You is a holiday staple that made its debut in 1994. This year marks the twenty-second year that Carey’s song takes center stage as a popular Christmas track. The song’s writer, Walter Afanasieff, told Billboard in 2014 that it is impossible to recreate the magic that is Mariah’s hit single.
“Mariah’s tried to outdo herself by re-recording it with a new intro, and then she tried it again with the [2011 duet] version with Justin Bieber,” Afanasieff shared. “You can’t reinvent the wheel when you’ve got something that, by the world’s standards, is already perfect. I’m not saying that to pat myself on the back, but it’s what everyone says: ‘We don’t want a new version; we don’t want an updated version, we just want that!”
